2022
Project Collaboration: Shengxuan Yu, Kyle Lenihan, Ramessa Ahmed
Studio Instructor: Lexi Tsien
Studio Teaching Assistant: Shengxuan Yu
The studio is assigned with design proposals of renovating the public plaza at Everson Museum of the Art, Syracuse NY. By collectively researching and studying on public space strategies and social activism programs, the studio approaches designs in respect to the local community as the most important design context. Each group in the studio comes up with a different design strategy.
Shengxuan Yu took the responsibility of the teaching assistant of the studio. Working with instructor Lexi Tsien, this included providing assistance to research, provide design reviews and critiques, site model construction, documentation, and events preparation. Shengxuan Yu also joined Kyle Lenihan and Ramessa Ahmed as one of the design studio groups, and came up with the design proposal “Confetti Monument”. The following page showcases documentation from the design “Confetti Monument”.
The Confetti Monument design is inspired from the idea of flexible, temporal and multiuse spaces that celebrate the Syracuse community. The movable “confetti” consisting of art, sculptures, seating and play objects, that invite the locals toward other monumental features such as the sunken courtyard, skating bowls, rock climbing wall and lush park space for events.
